I defer to RPM's expertise and recommendations for services to maintain my car's performance, although I may not always fully appreciate their importance. Don is my reliable go to person at RPM, and he is always reliable, courteous, and pleasant to deal with. He takes the time to explain what needs to be done and what was actually carried out afterwards. We got a ride back home and to RPM to pick up our car from Danielle, a new employee and soon to be an addition to Brad and Fran's family. She was very friendly and willing to give us a lift. For this service I was particularly impressed by Jack. When I told Don that I felt that the car was kind of sluggish, he asked me to bring the car back. When I returned the next day, Jack and I took a ride around the block to check out the car's operation. Jack explained to me that he had restored the car to its original manufacturer's setting of the firing of the spark plugs to the engine, and that probably resulted in the difference in the car's responsiveness. He explained that he did it because it might otherwise affect a smog inspection., He offered to raise the setting a few degrees to improve the car's responsiveness. He also asked me what kind of gas I used, which happens to be Costco. Jack said that whule Costco is a good value, the quality is not consistent in the percentage of gas and ethanol; and this variability can also affect the car's performance. At the end of the test drive, I asked Jack to recalibrate the car, which he was happy to do. He said it would only take 10 minutes or so. At the conclusion, he told him that I would notice a difference. jack bumped the car's setting up four degrees. He did advise me to bring in the car prior to the next smog check so he could lower the setting, after which he could raise it again. Driving home I certainly noted the big improvement, and was happy that I brought up this point to Don and brought the car in. Jack was very friendly and took the time to explain matters to me, and I learned much that day.
